Welcome to the PDX Home Brewers Club!

Joomla! LogoPBC's mission is to have fun promoting the art and knowledge of home brewing. Although PBC's home is in Beaverton, Oregon, all are welcome!

PDX Home Brewers club is based out of Beaverton, Oregon and is open to one and all who share the common interest: to share and learn about the wondrous art of homebrewing. In our attempt to promote the hobby even more, we created pdxbrewers.com. Here at PDX Brewers.com you can connect with other brewers to exchange ideas, techniques, equipment, recipes, and maybe even a few samples...:-)

We meet monthly at Max's Fanno Creek Brew Pub in Tigard. A great place to hang on the west side. Also we have many club events including group homebrewing, brewery tours, BBQ's, and alot of other homebrewing and beer related stuff. Our next meeting is coming up soon so visit this webpage for details or you may contact us on the links to the left.

We also offer a club email chat where most of our members hang out. If you would like to give the email chat a try, just click here. For more information on membership, dues etc , see the about tab.

If you are ready to become a member, just create a user account through the member logon on the left and follow the instructions. Once your dues have been paid your account will be activated. You can pay dues online or at the next meeting.

Thanks for stopping by!

Jim aka Hopdadi, Founder and Webmaster.

Summer Picnic

E-mail Print PDF
We have been telling you about it for a few months now and we are less than a month away from the annual PDX Brewers Club Picnic.

This year it will be taking place at the Juanita Pohl Center in Tualatin at the Rustic Shelter (8513 SW Tualatin Rd Tualatin, OR 97062) from 4-8pm on Saturday September 13th.

The club will provide a main dish (if you are vegetarian or gluten-free please bring an appropriate substitute) and asks that YOU, the guests, bring the side dishes.  Please bring your homebrew to share (kegs, bottles, and growlers are all welcome) with your fellow members.
There is just enough time for you to still brew for this event.

To participate, please bring a piece of equipment from your brewery that you no longer use or an inexpensive new item from a local brew shop (An old brew pot, an extra fermenter, an immersion chiller that was replaced by a  plate chiller, etc) .  Each person bringing an item will go home with an item.

If you have a fun camping/picnic style game that you think your fellow members will enjoy, bring it.  If you have family members, a significant other, and/or a designated driver that you think would enjoy attending, bring them along too.

July 2014 Meeting

E-mail Print PDF

YES, we are having our normal monthly meeting at Max's tonight at 7pm. Sorry for the delay – summer has been busy for all of us.

When Mon, July 21, 7pm – 9pm

Where Max's can be found at 12562 SW Main St in Tigard (map)

Description Please join us at Max's Fanno Creek Brew Pub in Tigard on our usual 3rd Monday of the Month. Please do not bring in food, but don't forget a few bucks for munchies.

The primary agenda item is Iron Brewer 2014.  We will be tasting beers from six teams that brewed on June 7th at this year's Iron Brewer Competition.  The mystery ingredient was jams and jellies, so if you're wondering what a rye Saison with orange marmalade and mint julep tastes like, come tonight.  Or perhaps a wheat beer with Morello cherries and raspberry fruit spread...  Each team's beer was brewed to a designated style and was designed to showcase their selected fruit.  A people's choice and a scored judging will take place.

When; Mon, August 18, 7pm – 9pm (ish)

Where; Max's can be found at 12562 SW Main St in Tigard (map)

Description;     Please join us at Max's Fanno Creek Brew Pub in Tigard on our usual 3rd Monday of the Month. Please do not bring in food, but don't forget a few bucks for munchies. DO bring your homebrew in for tasters and reviews from our tough critics (your fellow members). Max's can be found at 12562 SW Main St in Tigard. They are located on Main Street in Old-Town Tigard, next to Fanno Creek near the A-Boy hardware store. Their number is 503 624 9400

Topics; Cram packed meeting this coming Monday. We are going to discuss Meads and Ciders. Yes, you heard me correctly, BJCP categories 24-26 (Meads) and 27-28 (Ciders). We are deviating from beer and moving to what could be a whole new category of beverages for some. We are well aware of the popularity explosion of these categories in the last 5 years. We will do some quick explaining of these styles while we try many commercial examples. Bring a couple of dollars for the cost of the commercial examples. We will also be doing People’s Choice as well, so bring in your homebrew. Other topics of discussion are the summer Picnic and the Hop farm tour.

Hope to see you all there.

When; Mon, June 16, 7pm – 9pm

Where; Max's can be found at 12562 SW Main St in Tigard (map)

Topics; This is the meeting in which we all get to taste the efforts of the club’s Yeast Experiment. In recap, we brewed at 13 Virtues Brewing, and many of us took home 5 gallons to pitch a declared yeast, all different. We get to come together and try them all this night. To those that are involved in the yeast experiment, please bring in a growler (minimum) of your beer to the meeting for us to taste and evaluate. I will let you know if the Head Brewer and other staff from 13 Virtues will join us. If theycannot, then we need to make sure to bring a 12ounce or 22ounce bottle of your beer as well to leave with them to try the beers.

I will have handouts of the yeast’s chosen in this experiment and will have the recipe up on the board as well. Do not bring in any extra homebrew as we have many beers to go through. Looking forward to this!! See you there!

Thanks all! See you soon!
