Welcome to the PDX Home Brewers Club!

Joomla! LogoPBC's mission is to have fun promoting the art and knowledge of home brewing. Although PBC's home is in Beaverton, Oregon, all are welcome!
PDX Home Brewers club is based out of Beaverton, Oregon and is open to one and all who share the common interest: to share and learn about the wondrous art of homebrewing. In our attempt to promote the hobby even more, we created pdxbrewers.com. Here at PDX Brewers.com you can connect with other brewers to exchange ideas, techniques, equipment, recipes, and maybe even a few samples...:-)

We meet monthly at Max's Fanno Creek Brew Pub in Tigard. A great place to hang on the west side. Also we have many club events including group homebrewing, brewery tours, BBQ's, and alot of other homebrewing and beer related stuff. Our next meeting is coming up soon so visit this webpage for details or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

We also offer a club chat where most of our members hang out. If you would like to give the email chat a try, just click here. For more information on membership, dues etc , see the about tab.

If you are ready to become a member, just create a user account through the member logon on the left and follow the instructions.  Once your dues have been paid your account will be activated.  You can pay dues online or at the next meeting.

Thanks for stopping by!

Bittering in Bitter Times

E-mail Print PDF
Homebrewers are in bitter times!  Prices for everything are rising, from grains to hops and beer as well.  In addition, availability of many varieties of hops is limited, with restrictions placed on the amount one can buy at one time.  Those of us who like bitter brews either pay greatly inflated prices for hops or find other ways to brew our beers.

This discussion concerns strategies for more efficient use of scarce, expensive hops and methods of bittering without hops, brewing in the “old style”.  It’s an overview only, meant to stimulate self-education in brewing methods which are new to most modern brewers, but which would have been standard procedures for our “ancient” brethren.

Iron Brewer Challenge II

E-mail Print PDF
Get ready for the hops and barley to start flying as teams of brewers battle head to head to see who can brew the best beer.Just like the Food Network’s Iron Chef, once the surprise ingredient(s) is/are revealed, brewers will have 1/2 hour to declare a style and formulate a recipe.Once that time is up, brewing will commence using only the ingredients that are provided (water treatments and yeast excluded).Brewers will be given 4 to 5 hours to complete the brewing. The teams will then be able to take their beers home for fermentation.A time and place will be determined for judging as well as awards.
Judging will be based on style and also a people’s choice award.
